I’m Charmaine, my friends call me 'Charma' for short. The woman who cut every tie that no longer fit. The one who traded applause for autonomy, “we” for me, and fairy tales for the unfiltered truth.

 

Two years ago, I walked away— from performative friendships, from the versions of myself that existed only to soothe others’ narratives. 

 

What remained?

My children. My family.  Less than a handful of real female friends. And a silence so loud it forced me to finally hear myself.

• Validation is a trap—and I burned the pedestals they tried to put me on.
